Poachers Bag Trial

The 1st round of the PJ1/Classic Dirt Bike Northern British Pre 65 Championship is organised by the AJS Matchless Poachers Club and held around the Lincolnshire Wolds centered around the small farming village of Withcall, 2 miles North of Cadwell. The road based trial starts from Smiths Farm and consists of a route around the hills, valleys and streams of the large farm estate, with a little roadwork to take the competitors to four other groups of sections at Biscathorpe, Pit and Park, Welsdale and Benniworth Haven making a total length for the event 24 miles covering 35 sections.



Derbyshire Trial

With Spring now firmly with us the Championship moves across to neighboring Derbyshire for Midland Classic Clubs Derbyshire Trial, which sets off from Chesterfield and covers a figure of 8 route around the picturesque countryside of Chatsworth and surrounding areas. Over the last couple of years, Mike Worthy and his team have found some interesting new venues that produced some excellent sections.



Reliance Cup

June sees the Championship staying in Derbyshire for the Reliance Cup Trial hosted by South Liverpool Motorclub and set in the High Peak starting above Buxton. The Trial visits some of the best known Northern hazards such as Hawks Nest, Manor Steps and Hollings Clough famous in the 50’s and 60’s many still used today, “The Reliance” has now run for over 100 years, the trial still proves to be as special as ever.



West Riding Trial 

Yorkshire Classic hosts the 4th Round, 30 excellent sections set in the heart of Bronte Country, the trial sets off from the Guide Inn and takes in sections in Luscombes, Lumb Waterfall and Cowling Beck. A good run round on a sunny day finishing back at the Guide for pie and peas and a pint of Yorkshires finest.



Croesi’r Ddyfryn Dyfrdwy Trial

With LLDMCC, our newest host club now firmly set in the Championship calendar and a previous winner of the Best Round Award. The Club continues to find new and interesting pockets of land that just lend themselves perfectly to Classic Pre 65 Trials sections. The trial is often compared to ‘one day of the Manx Classic’ with its great hospitality and its popularity is definitely growing, don’t miss it this year!



Stanhope Classic Trial 

The newest trial in the series ran by Castleside Trials Club. Commencing at Rogerley Quarry in the market town of Stanhope in the Weardale Valley.  It is in the same area as the Travers Trophy Trial through the picturesque Weardale Valley and over the top into the Derwent Valley taking in 35 sections over a lap of approximate 30 miles with a varied selection of sections finishing back at Stanhope



Waterside Trial

All good things must end and usually with an excellent final round in the heart of Lancashire from Red Rose Classic Club, as expected in October the weather can play an important part in the days trialing set high above Todmorden, wet or dry this event is usually the trial that decides the final positions, many of the sections have a sting in the tail in some cases right up to the final group.



The Northern Championship tries to offer a variety of conditions and terrains over all of its rounds, which go to make a truly varied competition. An average of almost 100 riders for each round, all on British Trials Bikes, it’s fast becoming the most popular classic Championship and a ‘must do’ series.
